Donations

Donations are vital to the Friends’ existence. Your gift helps the Friends fulfill our mission to protect, preserve, and enhance the diverse natural and human heritage found in Fish Creek Provincial Park through the following objectives:

  • To support the Minister’s mandate to protect, preserve, and interpret the resources of the Park.
  • To work cooperatively with Fish Creek Provincial Park and other groups to increase/upgrade the Park’s educational/ interpretive services.
  • To promote positive community and public relations on the Park’s behalf.

Contributions to the Friends help us deliver quality programs and educational opportunities, and help ensure that the Park will be cared for in years to come.

Thank You

The Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park Society would like to acknowledge our latest financial supporters, whose donations and contributions will benefit the Park and assist us in upholding our mission statement, to protect, preserve, and enhance the diverse natural and human heritage found in Fish Creek Provincial Park. Non-profit groups like the Friends rely substantially on donations from community-minded businesses and environmental stewardship groups. As a grassroots organization, the Friends strive to provide programs that both benefit the Park and are enjoyable for volunteers and Park visitors. Thank You to the following organizations for your generous contributions.

TELUS donated an extremely generous $20 000.00 for Park Care to fund environmental education programs. This was presented to the Friends of Fish Creek in the form of an oversize check on Saturday, May 31st at the 2008 TELUS Day of Service in the Park. Thank you TELUS!

Thank you to the Alberta Stewardship Network, who recently donated $7,031.50 for our Water Quality Testing program, and $7,500.00 for the Amphibian Monitoring program. These programs were developed last summer and have since been reevaluated and revamped to enhance volunteers’ experience and produce accurate, reliable results. The outcomes of these studies will help the Park assess the health and water quality of Fish Creek and the condition of the Park's amphibian populations.

The Friends are extremely grateful to RBC Dominion Securities-South Calgary Office for donating a colossal $8,000.00 to fund this year’s Park Care events, including Purge-the-Spurge in June, Tackle-the-Tansy on July 19th, and Battle-the-Burdock on August 16th. Part of this donation will go to administration costs and materials for these summer barbeques.

Thank you to the Kayak Foundation of the Calgary Foundation, for donating $5,000.00 to the Friends, which will help cover Trail Care expenses relating to the International Mountain Bike Association World Summit in Park City, Utah this month. Also, a portion of these funds will be used for a new computer in the Friends Communications department. Thanks again Kayak Foundation and the Calgary Foundation.

The Friends benefit from companies looking to donate, and from a government that encourages and rewards charitable donations. Fish Creek Provincial Park is a cherished legacy whose future rests in the capable hands of the Friends, the government, and community members like you. Thanks again to TELUS, RBC Dominion Securities, ASN, and the Kayak Foundation!

Canada Helps

During the last few months our office has received many requests from people across Canada (and a couple from the US) who would like to donate to the Friends, but would like to pay with a credit card. Many are family members who have moved away but are aware of the strong attachment their loved ones had for Fish Creek Provincial Park and our organization; and wanted to give a heartfelt Christmas or birthday gift. Since we are a small, grassroots organization, we feel that it would not be prudent at this time to invest in a machine to conduct credit card purchases. This is where CanadaHelps.org comes in. CanadaHelps.org is an innovative website that allows people to donate to thousands of different charities across Canada, including ours.

Through CanadaHelps you can give to one or more non-profit organizations throughout the country, or have a monthly donation retrieved from your account. Both donors and non-profit groups must register on the site to donate or to access their funds. CanadaHelps has been operating since 2000 and is a charitable organization that receives support through corporate funding and in-kind donations. The non-profit groups listed on this site have all been approved and recognized by the Canadian Revenue Agency as valid organizations, and the website provides background information on the different charities available.

This site is easy to navigate, secure, and provides user-friendly registration forms and search capabilities. CanadaHelps procures a three percent administration fee to pay for their operations and they issue all donors an official tax receipt. So if you are looking for that perfect gift for a loved one, or would like to donate to our organization, please visit:

Here is another way you can help the Friends:

Memorial Park Bench Program

Give a gift or provide a memory that will last. The Memorial Park Bench Program commenced in 1999. It has provided people the opportunity to give to the Park in a unique way. When you are visiting the Park, you will see these beautiful wood benches presenting a bronze plaque that recognizes someone or something special. Take a rest on one of the Memorial Park benches that has provided someone a lasting memory.
